Why do some landlords refuse to rent to individuals moving from out?
Because they can not do background checks. I can check the Local court records as well as state records without any cost for an instate tenant. My suggestions if you really badly want an apartment from a landlord who will not rent to out of state applicants: Agree to pay for an out of state background check. I beleive this can be done for about $50. Offer a more substantial deposit. My rents, as well as my willingness to rent to someone with some blemishes on their application is proprotionate to the: Rent, deposit, length of lease. Give me a 2 yr lease and a first + last + deposit movin costs and I will either lower your rent or rent to someone on the edge of being rejected.
